Study: Alcohol linked to 7 different cancers

A recent study, published in Addiction, finds strong evidence that alcohol causes oropharynx, larynx, oesophagus, liver, colon, rectum and breast cancers.

The study author found evidence of danger, even among low-level drinkers.

"The highest risks are associated with the heaviest drinking but a considerable burden is experienced by drinkers with low to moderate consumption," says study author Jennie Connor to Telegraph.

However, people who quit drinking were as likely as the non-drinking population to develop laryngeal, pharyngeal and liver cancers.

The study also debunks the theory that alcohol may protect from cardiovascular disease.
