The Nice attack was “premeditated, prepared and planned” according to French prosecutors.

Mohamed Lahouaiej-Bouhlel, who rammed a truck into a crowd celebrating Bastille Day, had grown a beard during the eight days before the attack. He told friends “the significance of the beard is religious”, prosecutor François Molins reported at a press conference.

Lahouaiej-Bouhlel “ate pork, drank alcohol, took drugs and had a promiscuous sex life,” Molins said, indicating that the terrorist's religious life was newly-founded.
