The missiles flew between 500 and 600 kilometers (300-360 miles) off of the dictatorship's east coast, South Korea's military reports.

The US military reports that it detected the launches of what probably were 2 Scud missiles and 1 Rodong, a missile created by North Korea based on Soviet-era Scud technology.
