The Regavim movement for protection of state lands said, Monday, that European countries should cooperate with Israeli authorities if they really want to help the Bedouin living in Area C of Judea and Samaria, which is under Israeli control. The movement was responding to a report that ambassadors from eight European countries had cited Israel for breaking international law in the demolition of illegal Bedouin structures in the area.
Some of those structures have been funded by the European Union. A statment by Regavim said that the planning and building laws of Area C must be respected. It said that according to international law, the EU is obligated to respect the law of the region. It concluded that one cannot act against the law and afterward come and complain.
