Paraguayan President Horacio Cartes will touch down in Ben Gurion Airport at 4:40 p.m. today.

During his visit, Cartes will lay a wreath on Herzl's grave at Mt. Herzl, plant a tree in the JNF Grove of Nations, tour Yad Vashem, and visit Jerusalem's Old City and the Western Wall Plaza.

He will also meet with President Reuven Rivlin to discuss closer ties between Paraguay and Israel.

Cartes' 3-day visit marks the first time any Paraguayan president has visited Israel.
