The Defense Ministry and the Israel Defense Forces will soon put out a bid to put the kitchens at 40 IDF bases under private catering, according to a Thursday-morning report by Yediot Ahronot. According to the menus accompanying the bid, it appears that the IDF is working to implement recommendations by the Health Ministry for a healthier diet.

Gone will be hot dogs and burekas (Börek - an Ottoman Empire phyllo-dough pastry, usually filled with cheese or potatoes). Whole-grained rolls and couscous will increase. The use of un processed meat and fish will go up while the use of processed meat and fish will go down. There will also be food for vegans, vegetarians, celiac patients and those with allergies to the generally-offered foods.
