French authorities say they have identified the commander of the Nov. 13 Islamist militant attacks on Paris.

Abdelhamid Abaaoud, killed days later by police, played a lesser role, according to Bernard Bajolet, France's head of external security,

Bajolet's remarks were recorded in the recently published minutes of a closed-door parliamentary investigation on May 24.

Bajolet did not name who authorities now think commanded the attack, or whether the person is alive or dead.
