Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu said, Monday afternoon, that Israel's 1976 rescue of hijacked passengers at Entebbe Airport in Uganda became a symbol of standing up to terror, raised Israel's stature and struck a decisive blow to terror. Speaking at a ceremony to mark the 40th anniversary of the operation, he said the world must face terror with a united front.
The rescue operation was named Operation Yonatan, after the prime minister's brother, who was killed fighting the terrorists responsible for the hijacking. Netanyahu said he was moved to be at the spot where his brother fell, in the company of the soldiers who participated in the operation.
