The Constitution, Law and Justice Committee debated on Wednesday morning the proposed NGO Transparency Bill,” pertaining to organizations funded by foreign entities.
Devorah Gonen, the bereaved mother of terror victim Danny Gonen, said during the meeting that “The lawyers of the terrorist who murdered my son were funded by foreign countries. Those funds encouraged (further) murder. Terrorists from that they will be defended and that their families will receive funding. The terrorist remains alive and his family is generously supported, while I am left with the right to be a bereaved mother. The foreign countries fund murder. Take into account the potential results of foreign funding. It cannot be that an attorney representing a terrorist will justify my son’s murder.”
MK Zohir Bahalul (Zionist Union) responded to Gonen and said that “I understand and am pained by the tragedy you experienced. However, the State of Israel receives billions from foreign countries, including for defense purposes.”
