Francisco Rodriguez, a pitcher for the Detroit Tigers baseball team, says that he became infected by the Zika virus during the offseason, ESPN reports.

He was visiting his native country of Venezuela at the time.

Rodriguez is now warning athletes expecting to compete in this summer's Olympic Games to learn about the dangers posed by Zika. He added that he sympathizes with any who then choose not to participate, explaining that "if they have plans to have kids in the future, you've got to think about it."
