Opposition leader MK Yitzhak Herzog on Friday referred to the announcement by Moshe Ya'alon that he would be stepping down from the Knesset.
"National responsibility versus national irresponsibility. This past week will be remembered in the history books as a week in which the limits of national responsibility were set again. The decision to lead negotiations for a unity government that would have led to a political breakthrough and given us the Defense and Foreign Affairs portfolios, was not popular but it is was a decision of national responsibility," Herzog wrote on Facebook.
"Ya'alon's decision to stand against the predatory populism of the extreme right-wing junta and to stand firm over his values against Netanyahu was a decision of national responsibility," he continued.
"The decision of Orly Levy-Abekasis, one of the most important and ethical MKs, to quit Yisrael Beytenu when she realized that once again she was being used to gather Knesset seats, was a decision of national responsibility. On the other side the leaders of national irresponsibility are smiling, those who their own good always outweighs any other consideration. There is no room in the Zionist Union for the extreme left. There is room for Bogie and Orly," added Herzog.
