An official Bangladeshi investigation into a computer hack that stole $81 million determined that the international banking network SWIFT was at fault for the incident.
"We have shown that SWIFT made a number of errors that made it easy for the hackers," said the former governor of the Bangladeshi central bank. "SWIFT is responsible for the heist of Bangladesh Bank as it approached the central bank for the installation of RTGS real time gross settlement."
He added that the errors occurred when it hooked up the network to the bank systems.
