Representatives from the US, Canada and European countries abandoned Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni's inauguration ceremony in protest against the presence of Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir.
The US State Department says that al-Bashir arrived in Uganda for a five-day trip, despite an international warrant for his arrest. He is accused of committing war crimes by presiding over the mass killings and rapes of civilians in Darfur.
