Swiss authorities say that their investigation into whether the government had a secret arrangement with the PLO and the notorious terrorist Carlos the Jackal has turned up no evidence, Reuters reports.
Earlier this year, Carlos the Jackal, who is now serving multiple life sentences in a French prison, told reporters that he and and the Palestinian Liberation Organization had a "non-aggression pact" with Switzerland. This agreement allowed them to travel freely in the country, as long as he did not attack any Swiss targets.
"The task force has come to this conclusion: There was no 'secret agreement' reached in September 1970 between [PLO representative] F. Kaddoumi and representatives of Switzerland in Geneva," the inquiry team stated.
