US soldier dies in Iraq, though not in combat

A member of the US National Guard has died in Iraq, though not as the result of combat, the State Department reports.

The soldier, 25-year-old First Lieutenant David A. Bauders, served in the 176th Engineer Company from Washington state. He died in the al-Asad Air Base in western Iraq.

The circumstances surrounding Lieutenant Bauders' death are still under investigation.
