Culture and Sport Minister Miri Regev (Likud) celebrated the opening of her new office in Jerusalem today (Wednesday). During the ceremony, she affixed a mezuzah to the entrance, as Jerusalem Chief Rabbi Shlomo Moshe Amar presided.

"Affixing the mezuzah in Jerusalem, the capital of Israel, on the eve of Holocaust Memorial Day sends a message with a double and triple meaning," she said. "A mezuzah identifies the house as a Jewish home and there is nothing more moving than affixing a mezuzah on the day that symbolizes the difficulty Jews have faced in taking pride in their Judaism."

Regev added, "It's not right for the Culture and Sport Minister to not have an office in the capital. I am happy that, despite the complicated procedures, I succeeded in fulfilling my declaration."
