Iran's Islamic Consultative Assembly, which functions as its parliament, has approved a bill to increase the country's ballistic missile capabilities.

The bill's proposers say that the Islamic Republic must take steps "in order to develop the ability to launch ballistic missiles or to improve them," and emphasized that it should include "anti-aircraft, and short-, medium- and long-range" missiles.

The United Nations has passed several resolutions against Iran's ballistic missile program, which was not including in last year's nuclear deal.
