The Venezuelan government has declared that public sector employees will only work on Mondays and Tuesdays, in response to the energy crisis, the BBC reports.

"There will be no work in the public sector on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, except for fundamental and necessary tasks," said Vice President Aristobulo Isturiz.

Venezuela has been suffering from a severe drought, which has reduced the main hydroelectric dam's output. The opposition, however, claims that the government is at fault for not properly handling the situation.
