The Foreign Ministry responded to the UN Security Council’s “expression of concern” following Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu’s declaration on Israel’s hold of the Golan Heights.
“The Security Council’s announcement ignores the reality in Syria. Who Israel supposed to negotiate with on the future of the Golan, ISIS? Al Qaeda? Hezbollah? The Iranian and Syrian forces who slaughtered hundreds of thousands of people? In light of the war raging through Syria and the stability and security that Israel has established in the Golan over nearly 50 years, the proposal that Israel leave the Golan is unreasonable.”
