Popular ride-sharing company Uber has agreed to pay up to $100 million in order to settle a lawsuit against its business model, Reuters reports. The plaintiffs in the class-action suit insisted that all of the company's drivers are employees and should be reimbursed for their expenses.
Shannon Liss-Riordan, one of the drivers' attorneys, noted that many people following the case hoped it would go to trial in order to set a precedent for similar companies. However, she insisted that future legal decisions could entrench drivers' status as employees.
Uber is currently worth about $60 billion.
