The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Wednesday said it concluded that it is "clear" that the Zika virus causes microcephaly – a birth defect resulting in abnormally small heads and incomplete brain development.
In a statement quoted by AP, the agency said it had come to the conclusion after a review of existing evidence. A report on its findings has been published in the New England Journal of Medicine.
