The outbreak of the Zika virus is greater than what was originally anticipated, and a first vaccine against the virus is expected to be ready this coming September, a senior member of the US Center for Disease Control and Prevention said.
She added that the species of the insect that transmits the virus is more common in the US than hypothesized and that the Zika virus “is scarier than what we thought at first.”
