Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is warning the European Union that, should it not uphold its part of the agreement with Ankara, Turkey will not follow through with its requirements.
During a speech in his palace in Ankara, Erdogan stressed that the EU must comply with every clause in the agreement. The deal also requires Turkey to increase its monitoring along the borders and to take back refugees who entered Greece from its territory.
In exchange, the EU agreed to give Turkey €6 billion ($6.8 billion US) over the next two years and to allow Turkish citizens to enter the EU without needing a visa.
