Country music legend Merle Haggard has passed away on his 79th birthday.
Forty of Haggard's songs reached number one on the country music charts. He was also present for Johnny Cash's famous San Quentin State Prison performance, as a prisoner.
He had been suffering from poor health recently and was forced to cancel a number of performances.
