MK Ksenia Svetlova (Zionist Union) has commented on the Supreme Court decision to accept private conversions for awarding citizenship under the Right of Return.
"Another inappropriate monopoly has been smashed, the Chief Rabbinate's monopoly on Judaism in Israel," she said. "It's time that the State recognizes all sorts of conversions. Including the alternative conversion court, as well as Reform and Conservative and all other conversions. All conversions, as they are recognized by groups around the world, as it has been throughout the history of Judaism in the diaspora."
