Defense Minister Moshe Ya'alon expressed sorrow over the death of Civil Administration head Munir Amar in a plane crash and said, "In the last month and a half, since he was appointed head of the Civil Administration, I met Brigadier General Munir Amar, who was killed today in a plane crash, on several occasions.”

“In every such meeting I was very impressed with his personality, his expertise, his understanding of the area and his judgment. The role of head of the Civil Administration is a very complex one, especially in the current reality, and in the short time he served in it, Munir did it in the best possible way,"added Ya'alon.

"Munir was the salt of the earth - a fighter and a great commander with an impressive track record, who served for many years in places where one must take responsibility and deal with the challenges. He was a symbol of our lifelong alliance with the Druze and an example for young people of the community to enlist to the IDF. Munir's death is first and foremost a tremendous loss to his family, his friends and to the Druze community. It is also a great loss to the IDF and the State of Israel. May his memory be blessed."
