German Chancellor Angela Merkel's party has lost much of its support in two of the three states conducting elections today (Sunday).
Exit polls show that the Christian Democrats are losing seats in Baden-Wuerttemberg and Rhineland Palatine, though it is still the leading party in Saxony-Anhalt, BBC reports.
Alternative Fuer Deutschland (AfD), which ran on an anti-migrant platform, gained power in all three.
Merkel's stance on accepting migrants into Europe has caused a strong division in German politics.
