Deputy Defense Minister Eli Ben-Dahan (Jewish Home) has commented on the Ministerial Committee for Legislation's approval of a bill dealing with mikvehs.

"The Ministerial Committee for Legislation decided that MK Moshe Gafni's mikveh law would not be sent for its preliminary reading without the consent of all of the coalition partners. Jewish Home will only give its support if the rights of those who use the mikveh are implemented, as I explained in my historic memorandum to the Chief Rabbinate during my term as Deputy Minister for Religious Services."

Ben-Dahan added that, "Ensuring that their rights are upheld will be possible after the two Chief Rabbis of Israel sign the outline to an agreement that I drew up, based on the historic memorandum, which determines that the responsibility for the immersion is on the person immersing herself. Those going to use the mikveh should not be interrogated by the attendants and they should be allowed a personal experience. We have no intention of revoking the achievements we have accomplished for the women of Israel."
