MK Oren Hazan (Likud) had a private conversation with the Knesset legal team that guided the discussions on his "State of Israel" bill, according to a recording published by the Knesset Channel.
The Legislative Committee approved of the bill last week, though with some requests for changes. During the recording, Hazan could be heard saying, "You don't want to pass the law? We won't pass the law? The principle of separation of powers doesn't exist in the Knesset. They forgot it here in the Knesset. It's already gone."
He added: "You want me to go out and talk to the cameras about this? You want the government to fall because of this? No problem."
Hazan has responded to the publication by declaring, "No threats, no intimidation and no leftist maneuvers of subversive Jewish elements that are disloyal to the country will prevent me from promoting this important bill and many others for the sake of the Jewish People and the Land of Israel."
