The Ministerial Committee for Legislation has given its approval to a bill easing the restrictions on female veterans to receive gun licenses.

The bill, which was submitted by MK Aliza Lavie (Yesh Atid) would allow soldiers who finished their IDF service to hold jobs that require being armed even if they are not yet 21 years old. This would primarily affect women, who have a shorter required service than men.

"This is an important step towards defeating discrimination whose effects are already notable in a discharged woman's first steps in the working world," says Lavie.
