UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has expressed his concern over Islamist attacks in Burkina Faso and West Africa.

"The response to terrorism must be global and conducted in strict compliance with human rights and international humanitarian law," he said.

Ban met with Burkina Faso President Roch Marc Christian Kaboré in the capital city of Ouagadougou today (Thursday). The city was rocked by a terror attack in January that killed at least 30. A couple months prior, terrorists killed 20 people in a Mali hotel, including one Israeli.
