James Snyder has announced that he will resign from his position as the director of the Israel Museum next year.
An official statement said that Snyder, who has served as the director since 1997, guided the museum "through the most dramatic growth since its founding" including a "$100 million expansion and renewal of the entire Museum" in 2010. It also noted that attendance has doubled under his leadership.
After stepping down, Snyder will be the museum's first international president. The Israel Museum is currently searching for its next director.
