The Ministerial Committee for Legislation has given its approval to a bill by MK Bezalel Smotrich (Jewish Home), which would allow potential buyers to have a mechanical test done on a confiscated car before purchasing it.

Currently, buyers are expected to buy such cars without being able to give them tests. In effect, the car is locked while interested purchasers look at it from the outside and decide how much they are willing to pay.

MK Smotrich's bill, which has won support across party lines, would allow a customer to properly assess the vehicle's value.

"I am pleased by the cooperation and the broad consensus that I have found in the Knesset to promote this law, and I hope to continue working together on important social issues without disputes," said Smotrich.
