The Ministerial Committee for Legislation has given its approval to a bill by Finance Minister Moshe Kahlon (Kulanu). The bill calls for canceling the double tax imposed on Israeli citizens living in Judea and Samaria.
Currently, an Israeli citizen selling or purchasing the right to land in Judea and Samaria, or in the Gaza Strip must pay a mandatory purchasing tax or betterment tax twice - once to the Civil Administration and once to the Tax Authority.
Kahlon's bill would streamline the tax payment system to that the real estate tax authorities can transfer taxes paid in Israel as either betterment taxes or purchase taxes directly to the Civil Administration, thus helping citizens and saving them time and expenses.
