Police Commissioner Roni Alsheich and Public Security Minister Gilad Erdan (Likud) took part in a police ceremony to appoint the new commander of the northern district today (Tuesday).

The pair spoke of the need to strengthen the connection with Israel's Muslim population. "The more we learn to act with the population, the more enforcement and arrests will be seen as a public service," said Alsheich.

He continued: "Police have been intensively working recently to deepen the the cooperation with the Arab population while opening stations in Arab communities and enlisting massive numbers of officers from the Muslim sector."
