Deputy Defense Minister Rabbi Eli Ben-Dahan welcomed the IDF Chief of Staff’s order to soldiers to take their weapons with them when on leave.
“I welcome the Chief of Staff’s decision and believe that, during an emergency, it is certainly worthy that IDF soldiers who are skilled in the use of weapons can, when necessary, protect themselves and the citizens of Israel,” said Rabbi Ben-Dahan.
“There have already been cases when soldiers on leave saved many people by neutralizing the terrorists. Of course, it is very important to emphasize the procedures and train the soldiers,” he added.
