Iranian President Hassan Rouhani told the Russian Defense Minister that the crisis in Syria can only be resolved through political means. Defense Minister Sergey Shoygu is currently visiting Tehran.
Iranian news agency IRNA reports that Shoygu spoke of President Vladimir Putin's friendship with Iran.
