The Knesset Science and Technology Committee on Tuesday discussed a project that would make accessible documents, photographs and testimonies of Holocaust survivors.
Committee chairman MK Uri Maklev (United Torah Judaism) noted the duty of providing access to the testimonies. The project, developed by HP and Yad Vashem, is an important project which is an example of cooperation between advanced technology and the history of the Jewish people and the Holocaust commemoration.
Yad Vashem’s archives currently include approximately 127,500 survivor testimonies in 41 languages, 190 million documents, 480,000 photographs, 30,000 artifacts, and 10,000 works of art. It is estimated that it will take another four years to complete the scanning of the materials.
