Deputy Defense Minister Rabbi Eli Ben Dahan responded to a question posed by MK Aida Touma-Suleiman at the Knesset plenum regarding the numbering of identification cards of Hevron Arabs.

Ben Dahan indicated that the numbering of the identification cars is a local initiative meant to expedite inspections for local Arabs. That being said, the minister said that it was decided that the stickers will be removed at once and that new solutions will be researched.

Ben Dahan emphasized that a significant amount of recent attacks stemmed from the fact that, upon being asked to present their identification cards, terrorists pulled out knives or weapons.

“And if they wouldn’t pull knives instead of identification cards, there would be no need for inspections. That would be the real solution.”
