MK Sharren Haskel (Likud) spoke out in the Knesset Interior Committee to call for authorities to act on the arson against synagogues.
"Given the dangerous trend of synagogue arsons, I will act to strengthen the punishment and financially support protective measures," she said. "It was important for me to to hold the discussion in light of the apparent trend of synagogue arsons. We are talking about an attack on the freedom of religion - one of the building blocks of democracy."
MK Haskel continued: "The State of Israel is alone in the Middle East to maintain the freedom of religion for all its religions and minorities. It is a dangerous phenomenon and we cannot allow it to continue."
