A 6.2 magnitude earthquake was recorded off the coast of New Zealand on Monday evening, the U.S. Geological Survey said.
The quake struck was centered 136 miles (219 kilometers) northwest of Auckland Island and 735 miles southwest of Wellington. There was no immediate tsunami alert.
