Education Minister Naftali Bennett (Jewish Home) has announced that Professor David Shulman has been selected to win the Israel Prize for religious studies and philosophy.
The deciding committee explained its reasoning by explaining that Professor Shulman, who works at the Hebrew University, is an outstanding researcher and carried out breakthroughs in the fields of the religion, literature and culture of southern India.
One of the characteristics of Shulman's research is his command of a wide range of languages, including Sanskrit, Tamil, Telegu, and Malayalam.
