Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev is warning that introducing ground forces into Syria could lead to a world war.

Medvedev told the German newspaper Handelsblatt that "a ground operation draws everyone taking part in it into a war." He also said, "The Americans and our Arab partners must consider whether or not they want a permanent war," in response to the Saudi offer to send in ground troops.

Russia already has forces in Syria, which are supporting President Bashar al-Assad.
