A former agents with the IRS, the US tax authority, is charged with taking a $20,000 bribe from a medical marijuana clinic, Associated Press reports.
Paul Hurley was assigned to audit the Have a Heart Compassion Care in Seattle last year. Hurley told the owner that he owed about $1.3 million in back taxes, but that Hurley had reduced it by a million dollars.
Prosecutors say that Hurley requested the owner to pay off his student debt in exchange for the help.
