Volkswagen says that it will offer compensation to its US customers who purchased its cars that give off illegal amounts of emissions. About 600,000 people bought such vehicles.
The company has not yet stated whether the compensation will be in cash, repairs, buy-backs, or replacements, a company official told the Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung.
The scandal came to light over four months ago, and Volkswagen, the largest car company in Europe, has still not received US approval to repair the vehicles in question.
