The International Committee of the Red Cross says that it will close its office in Gaza, after it was repeatedly attacked by demonstrators. The organizations claims that the closure will only be temporary.
A spokesperson says that the ICRC will return once "local authorities in Gaza provide assurances that our premises, work and staff are respected." Until then it will function from a remote office.
Dozens of protesters have gathered at the office every day for the past few weeks in support of a Palestinian hunger striker in an Israeli prison. Today (Sunday), the demonstrators destroyed windows and caused further damage.
