The United Nations Security Council will conduct an emergency meeting in response to North Korea's recent rocket launch. South Korea, Japan and the US requested the meeting in order to come up with a joint response.
The North Korean government claims that the launch carried a satellite, though many believe that it was really testing a ballistic missile. Such a move, as well as Pyongyang's recent nuclear test, goes against UN resolutions.
"We have consensus to condemn this kind of violation of sanctions," said Council president Venezuela's representative.
