The US tried to assassinate a senior member of Iran's Revolutionary Guards, according to the Iranian military's chief of staff, Hassan Firouzabadi. Firouzabadi added that the US failed because of the strict protective measures taken by Qassem Soleimani, the target.
"The Americans desperately wanted to attack General Soleimani so that they could feel better about themselves," Firouzabadi told Fars news agency.
