Jerusalem Deputy Mayor: Place IDF forces in Jerusalem

Dov Kalmanovich, the deputy mayor of Jerusalem, has commented on today's (Wednesday) terror attack by the Old City. He is now calling for IDF troops to be used in the capital city.

"Today's attack represents an escalation. When terrorists from Jenin reach Jerusalem, armed with knives, guns, and explosives, we cannot continue to claim that it is individual terror. There is clear organization and the last four months, with Jews attacked every day, are not the result of coincidence. It is time to act. As I have done previously, I say that we must act against terror and not just defend ourselves. We cannot allow Jerusalem, Israel's capital, to be a pilgrimage site for terrorists."

He continued: "There is a need to put military forces in the city at educational sites, to increase the actions of the security forces already spread around the city, and to apply our sovereignty over all parts of Jerusalem, with an emphasis on the Old City. This would prevent incidents of organized attacks and terrorists carrying out their actions."
