MK Ksenia Svetlova (Zionist Union) has commented on the government's approval for creating a non-Orthodox space at the Kotel.
"I am happy that, after three years of arduous negotiations, the various sides have come to a compromise that, for now, suffices both Women of the Wall and the Rabbinate," she said. "The Kotel belongs to the entire Jewish People and is not the domain of one single group. At the same time, there is still a long way to go until we reach equality. The state must defend the rights of Conservative and Reform Jews, just as it defends the rights of haredim."
MK Svetlova added: "Infringing on the rights of Conservative and Reform Jews harms not only Israelis, but also the relationship with the Jewish People in the diaspora."
